Project Management — What and How
Qualifies for 8 CEU’s
Effective project management is the cornerstone of every successful laboratory animal management program. In this in-person leadership bootcamp, participants will explore the essential pillars of project management and discover practical tools to lead projects with clarity, collaboration, and confidence.
Workshop Focus
This interactive session will cover:
- The importance of a project charter, schedules, and timelines
- Why building consensus can make or break a project
- How to create effective communication methods to keep projects on track
Working alongside your lab animal management and business colleagues, you’ll address common challenges that arise during projects and develop strategies to mitigate risks and ensure success.
Hands-On Learning
Participants will dive into two key aspects of project management through discussion and collaborative exercises. You’ll leave the workshop with a personalized Action Plan outlining specific next steps to apply what you’ve learned directly to your work environment.

By the end of Bootcamp #5, participants will:
- Understand the fundamentals of project management and how they apply in a laboratory setting
- Learn effective strategies for teamwork and achieving project success
- Exchange insights and feedback with colleagues who manage similar initiatives

This workshop will be held on April 13, 2026 (one day prior to the start of the LAMA/ATA Annual Meeting) from 8 am to 5 pm at the Contessa Hotel, San Antonio, TX. If registering for the annual meeting, you will see there is a discounted rate for the Leadership Bootcamp.
