JOB TITLE: Training Coordinator/Laboratory Animal Trainer II
Work Assignments are based on work requirements to meet the contract needs, which may include the following duties:
Provide competent and responsible direction of facility trainers and Contractor staff in support of specific Task Orders within the facility.
Will provide general supervision and control of staff resources, accomplishment of performance goals, submittal of contract deliverables, compliance with facility SOP’s, and maintenance of a health and safety program.
Develop, present or assist in SOP driven technical training classes as required for specific departmental positions (cagewash, animal care technicians, veterinary technicians and supervisors).
Work closely with department managers to ensure staff competency is maintained.
Provide orientation training for new hires and promotions.
Take the lead on new projects that require enhanced training of staff in order to support new animal studies.
Coordinate AALAS certification classes.
Develop and maintain a database of all training received by all Task Order staff.
May interview potential applicants for open positions.
Maintain employee performance documentation.
Will draft and review facility SOP’s.
Collaborate with client on development and oversite of training initiatives.
Work with subordinate employees to ensure that all work is performed according to the task Statement of Work.
Provide research clerical support and/or data entry/data base report generation for computerized systems which monitor facility internal environmental parameters, security, or other animal facility monitoring and management requirements.
Provide proper care, use and maintenance of equipment and facilities as outlined in Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) and ACUC protocols and assist in the SOP review process.
High School diploma or GED, B.S. ideally
Literate in written and spoken English
American Association for Laboratory Animal Science (AALAS) certification at the Laboratory Animal Technologist (LATG) level
Experience with multiple species including NHPs, rodents, gerbils, and rabbits.
