About the position
Typical duties will include managing daily animal husbandry maintaining a clean environment throughout the vivarium; assisting other animal technicians when needed; performing housekeeping within the facility; monitoring animals during and after surgery; maintaining colony management software and daily health records; managing rodent breeding colonies; preparing diets; and performing other related duties, tasks and responsibilities as required or assigned. The candidate will also have the opportunity to work with other species as available.
High School Diploma or GED and a minimum of two (2) years of related experience or a Bachelor’s Degree in a related scientific discipline and no related experience is required. Organizational abilities, effective communication and interpersonal skills are essential. Experience managing multiple rodent colonies, genotyping, and husbandry are preferred.
AALAS certification is preferred.
Must be available for weekend and holiday rotations.
