About the position
The Research Animal Resource Center (RARC) is seeking a Manager, Animal Facility to oversee the administrative and operational activities of the MSK RARC Zuckerman Research Center (ZRC). Responsibilities are performed to ensure efficient and effective operations, adherence to regulations and policies, and quality care for animals. This position manages between 70-90 staff.

You have:

Staff Management:
Supervises the daily functions and activities of all levels of animal care staff in cooperation with Senior Leadership.
Oversees hiring, orienting, evaluating, and disciplinary action of animal care staff. Responds to employees’ questions and provides guidance on how to proceed.
Provides guidance to ZRC Management Team.

Operations Management:
Resolves issues of diverse scope by working with internal and external contacts
Ensures maintenance of quality control programs related to animal care to ensure proper practices are consistently followed.
Actively manages specialized research and construction projects pertaining to the vivarium.

Quality Assurance:
Participates in the development and implementation of written protocols (SOPs) for animal care, sanitation, equipment maintenance, animal receiving and environmental monitoring. Ensures adequate space for animal housing.
Directs animal care staff in procedures necessary to ensure disease control and treatment programs as determined by the veterinary staff.
Communicates and ensures compliance with institutional and regulatory agencies’ regulations and policies.

You Need!
A minimum of 5 years animal care and use program supervisory
An Associate’s or higher degree in a related discipline is preferred
Certification by AALAS as a Laboratory Animal Technologist (LATG) required
